Hillcrest
Quite literally situated on the crest of a hill, Hillcrest is nestled some way above Durban. What used to be a quiet escape predominantly made up of farmlands and green pastures, experienced what seemed like an overnight boom in demand for property and now serves as a popular suburb in Durban.
Whilst Hillcrest has gained a considerable amount of popularity, it is still where people turn to when looking for a safer and less crowded country lifestyle away from the buzzing hub of Durban’s city centre. But should the need arise, the city is a mere twenty minutes’ drive away. The vacant land has been handed over to equestrian estates, retirement villages, golf estates and gated communities, adding to the quiet and peaceful nature of the area.
The Shongweni Farmers Market every Saturday morning is a great place to buy fresh and home grown organic produce and give the area even more of a feeling of country living. There are farm stalls, nurseries, pubs, art hubs and a multitude of restaurants which means you do not have to leave the quiet country life and go to the malls to shop.
