Achieve your fitness goals with Oxford Striders

Everyone leads a busy life. We are often too preoccupied to prioritise our health and tend to neglect the concept of wellness, in favour of corporate productivity. However, this is an essential part of life that we can't afford to put on the back burner. Going to the gym might be tedious, and playing a sport might be inconvenient during the week, but a running club? Say hello to a newfound way of living free. Say hello to Oxford Striders.

The pros of joining a running club

Oxford Striders was created with the busy individual in mind. The group realises that accountability is a fundamental part of the appeal of becoming a member, as it is easier to show up for a run when you know your team is counting on you. It takes away the option of making personal excuses or just not being in the mood for fitness. When you're part of Oxford Striders, it is a collective effort that keeps you going.

The club has runners from all walks of life and who run at different speed levels. Even if you're starting out as a power walker or a casual jogger, it's always more fun to have company to keep you motivated and inspired to push further. Training for a milestone run like a marathon? Joining a running club is the perfect way to keep your momentum going and allows you to stay on track.

Embrace the social aspect

The Oxford Striders Running Club headquarters can be found on Beach Road in the quaint, yet luxurious suburb of Bonnie Doon in East London. The area is known for its fabulous properties and nearby access to great amenities. The suburb is home to many residents who share a love for the outdoors. The picturesque waters of Nahoon Beach are ideal for those who love beach days, and a wonderful location for runners to enjoy the salty sea air and fresh breeze on an evening or early morning run. Sunsets and sunrises from this vantage point are always breathtaking and well worth the effort it takes to run there.

The social atmosphere at Oxford Striders is enjoyable and welcoming. The club often hosts get-togethers at their clubhouse for runners to get to know each other on a friendly level. This fosters a sense of community and respect for each other. Runners are encouraged to also make use of the gym facilities on site to be used either before or after a run, for a complete workout. What better way to ensure your fitness goals are met than to have everything you need in one place?

Train on your time

The running schedules offer specialised programs formulated by the Club Captain, Vaughan Emslie. Runners can choose between the advanced group or the happy feet group. Each training session is devised with different fitness levels in mind and uses the appropriate distance and times to track everyone's progress and pace. Training sessions during the week are held on Mondays to Fridays in the afternoon and include Sunday mornings. You can decide which days and time slots best suit your lifestyle.
