Family fun at Redberry Farm

Those who call George home are blessed in a multitude of ways. Over and above breathtaking scenery and ample amenities, they live in a place where family and community are a way of life. There are many ways to spend a great day with family or friends in George, but arguably topping the list is a trip to Redberry Farm.

Strawberry picking at Redberry Farm

If you're a fan of fresh scrumptious strawberries, then strawberry picking at Redberry Farm should be a regular event on your calendar. Even if you're not a particular strawberry fan, there's an element of therapy to being outdoors and coming into simultaneous contact with earth and sky. Great news for those wishing to make a strawberry pavlova, strawberry shortcake or strawberry daiquiri is that Redberry Farm offers a year-round supply of these sweet treats. While the best time to go strawberry picking is between August and January, you can go whenever the mood grabs you. Also, if you're not in the mood to pick them yourselves, you can buy fresh or frozen strawberries at Redberry's farm stall. While you're at the farm stall, you can also stock up on raspberries and golden kiwis. In a nutshell, Redberry Farm gives you a chance to enjoy the outdoor way of life that the City of George has to offer.

Fun activities for the family

Redberry Farm offers an array of family fun, including the ability to enjoy stunning views of the Outeniqua Mountains from the top of a Giant Strawberry! This activity is suitable for all family members, although children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Once you've had your fill of the view, it's time to check out the Redberry Farm Hedge Maze, in which you must find all seven strawberry stations before claiming your reward at the end. This maze has the distinction of being the largest permanent hedge maze in the southern hemisphere.

No trip to Redberry Farm can be complete without a ride on the Redberry Express. The 800m track offers a great vantage point from which to check out the maze and strawberry field. There are also pedal go carts, bumper boats and ponies to be ridden, making a trip to Redberry Farm a full day of fun for the younger members of your family.

Enjoy a meal you won't soon forget

While surrounded by the sweet ambience of Redberry Farm, you can enjoy a meal at an array of on-site eateries. Boplaas Family Vineyards serves local wines and whiskies, together with a smorgasbord of delicious food. Redberry Farm's tea garden offers a strawberry-inspired menu that can be enjoyed against the Instagram-worthy backdrop of the Outeniqua Mountains. On those hot summer days, you'll want to head to Framboos Handcrafted Ice Cream for handcrafted gelato, Belgian waffles and - of course - strawberries.

If you find yourself in need of an energy boost after keeping up with the kids on the farm, Red Shed Coffee & Berry Bar has your needs covered. They serve a wide range of teas, coffees, milkshakes and smoothies - as well as cocktails, wines and ciders. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of strawberry picking.

The Noshery Pizzeria & Deli prepares an array of gourmet and classic pizzas in a wood-fired oven, making them the perfect place for lunch at Redberry Farm.

If you're looking for a great day out for the family, there's no need to book in advance with Redberry Farm. However, if you're looking for a destination for a child's birthday party, function or team-building event, you'll need to make a booking.

Redberry Farm is just one of the great attractions in the scenic surroundings of George and there are many other great reasons to buy property here and make this area your home.
